The Royal Game of Ur Devlog 4


So finally posting a new update after *checks* about 6 months! Wow if I was more consistent with this project it could've been done like 5 months ago.  Anyways, onto what has changed since then!

First things first: if you played the original game, you may remember that it was called The Royal Game of Ur. I have since renamed it to a simpler name - 20 Squares. And with a new name I have been working on updating all graphics in the game from the entire main menu, game board, and tokens. 

I added a nice animation to the main menu as well and the option to choose which token you want to play with; making a few tokens unlockable as you play more. 

This release took like an extra week to get onto itch because I had issues getting the game to start with the WebGL build and then scaling issues which was resolved by Minimal WebGL template ! And then a bug was introduced only on the itch version which had to do with the order of Start method calls in my game which apparently does not have to be the same as the order of execution in my unity editor. Thankfully I could safely remove the Start method that was causing the issue but figuring that out took longer than I would have liked lol.

The next release will be online multiplayer since it still works but just need to fix the graphics because I didn't use prefab variants when setting up the game board the first time. And hopefully it wont take me 6 more months....lol

Following that will be the offline single player mode which I actually need to code, so that will take a little longer to get out.

And of course throughout these releases I hope to also release more tokens you can choose to play as. Feel free to suggest what kinds of tokens you'd like to see in the game here or on my twitter!
